Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate print on demand profit?
Take the selling price and subtract the print provider’s base cost, including printing, the shipping you pay, the payment fee, your ad cost per sale and any other per-order costs. Multiply by the units sold for the total.
What is a good margin for print on demand?
Many POD sellers aim for 30% to 50% of the price before ads and 15% to 25% after. Base costs are higher than wholesale, so pricing at least twice the base cost plus shipping is common.
What should I include in base cost?
Everything the print provider charges per item: the blank product, printing on each side, and extras like labels or gift packaging. Enter the shipping they charge separately, under shipping you pay.
How do I price a POD product?
Enter a target margin and the calculator gives the lowest price that reaches it after every cost. Compare it with similar products: if the price needed is far above the market, a cheaper blank or provider may help.
Does it work for Printful, Printify and Gelato?
Yes. Use the base cost and shipping from your provider’s catalog for the region you ship to, in your store’s currency.
Do I need to count ads?
If your sales come from ads, yes. Ad cost per sale is often the biggest cost after the base cost. Leave it empty for sales that come from organic traffic, marketplaces or social media.
