Frequently asked questions

How much should I discount for Black Friday?

Only as much as your margin allows. Start from the deepest discount that breaks even, shown here, and stay well below it to leave room for profit. Shoppers often see 15% to 30% off as a real deal, but a discount you can’t afford only makes a busy weekend lose money.

What is break-even ROAS?

Return on ad spend is your sales divided by what you spent on ads. Break-even ROAS is the lowest ROAS at which an order still covers its product cost, shipping, fees and returns. A deeper discount lowers what each order brings in, so the ROAS you need goes up.

Why do ads cost more during Black Friday?

Almost every shop advertises in the same week, so the auctions on Meta, Google and TikTok get busier and each sale costs more to win. Many shops see their cost per purchase rise by 20% to 50%. Enter your own guess under ad cost increase.

How are returns counted?

The return rate is spread across every order. Each return refunds the item price, while shipping and payment fees are usually not given back. If returned items can be sold again, you keep the product, so only the refund is lost. If they can’t, the product is lost as well.

Why do I need so many more orders on a discount?

A discount comes straight off your profit, not off your costs. If you make 15 on a full-price order and 5 on a sale order, the sale needs three times as many orders to earn the same. That’s why the deepest discounts often bring a record weekend with less profit.

Does it work in my currency?

Yes. Enter every amount in the currency you sell in. The payment fee starts at 2.9% plus 0.30, a common card rate, so change it to what your payment provider charges you.
