How to use TIFF to Text

  1. Add your TIFF scans

Drop .tif or .tiff files onto the page. Every page of a multi-page file is read.

  2. Pick the language

Choose the language of the document. English words are always recognised as well.

  3. Copy or download

Click Extract text, then copy the result or download a .txt file with the pages marked.

Why use Utils365

  • Every page read

Multi-page scans and faxes come back as one text file, with each page marked.

  • Fax-friendly

Black-and-white CCITT fax TIFFs are supported as well as colour and greyscale scans.

  • Private by design

Your documents are read in your browser and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Which kinds of TIFF work?

Uncompressed, LZW, PackBits, Deflate, CCITT fax and most JPEG-compressed TIFFs, in black and white, greyscale or colour.

How accurate is it?

Clean scans at 300 dpi read very well. Low-resolution faxes, skewed pages and handwriting give more mistakes, so check names and numbers.

Can I get a searchable PDF instead?

Not yet. You can turn the scan into a PDF with TIFF to PDF and keep the text from here alongside it.

Why does the first run take longer?

The language data (2–15 MB) downloads once, then your browser keeps it.
