How to use Image to text

  1. Add your images

Drop photos, screenshots or scans onto the page. Multi-page TIFFs and iPhone HEIC photos work too.

  2. Pick the language

Choose the language of the text. English words are always recognised as well.

  3. Copy or download

Click Extract text, then copy the result or download it as a .txt file.

Why use Utils365

  • 19 languages

Including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Thai and Russian, not just Latin alphabets.

  • Private by design

The text is read on your device. Your images are never uploaded, which matters for receipts, letters and IDs.

  • Many at once

Read a batch of screenshots or every page of a scan in one go.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is it?

Very good on clear printed text, such as screenshots, documents and signs. Handwriting, tiny print, heavy blur and strong angles are much harder, so check names and numbers.

Why does the first run take longer?

The language data (2–15 MB) downloads the first time you read a language, then your browser keeps it.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Text recognition runs in your browser. Only the language data is downloaded; nothing is sent back.

Can it read handwriting?

Neat handwriting sometimes works, but the engine is made for printed text, so expect mistakes.

Can I read text from a PDF?

For PDFs with selectable text, PDF to Text is faster and exact. For scanned PDFs, export the pages with PDF to JPG, then read them here.
