How to use CSS formatter & minifier

  1. Paste your CSS

Paste a stylesheet, or open or drop a .css file. It’s formatted as you type.

  2. Beautify or minify

Beautify puts each rule and property on its own line. Minify removes comments, spaces and anything else browsers don’t need.

  3. Copy or download

Copy the result, or download it as a .css file. When minifying you’ll see the size before and after.

Why use Utils365

  • Smarter than removing spaces

The minifier also shortens colours like #ff0000 to red, drops units from zeros and removes empty rules.

  • Your rules stay in order

Rules are never merged or moved, so the cascade works exactly as before and nothing overrides something new.

  • License comments kept

Comments that start with /*! stay in the minified file, as many open-source licenses require.

  • Private by design

Your CSS is formatted in your browser and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller does minified CSS get?

Usually 15–30%, more if the stylesheet has many comments. The summary shows the exact size before and after, and the percentage saved.

Can minifying break my styles?

It’s designed not to. Values are only rewritten in ways that mean the same thing, and rules keep their order, so which rule wins doesn’t change.

How do I unminify CSS?

Paste the minified CSS and choose Beautify. Every rule and property goes on its own line with the indent you pick. Removed comments can’t be brought back.

Does it work with SCSS or Less?

Beautify handles most SCSS and Less, including nesting. Minify expects plain CSS, so compile your SCSS or Less first.
